If you’re a Twitter user, then you need to know about Mr. Tweet. There is a new personal assistant service (free) for all Twitter users and this service (Mr. Tweet) will literally tell you who you should be following (and who you shouldn’t) as well as making your twitter experience much more “worthy.”
So one of the highlights of my career happened today when I got an email from my former director, Lori Kinney at imc2. As most of you know, I worked at imc2 for almost two years (recruited for them) and the last few months of my career there, I had the wonderful opportunity to work on getting imc2 up to date on social networking and recruiting. I’ve blogged before about the importance of using Twitter as a recruiter tool and it’s great to know my work with my awesome recruiting team has paid off. Lori was interviewed by the prestigious Ad Age about our efforts as one of the few ad agencies who began “twittering” about job openings with the company and also using other social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook, Pownce, etc) to recuit top-notch talent.
Lori sent me an email she sent to the VP of HR at imc2 and she was so wonderful in giving the “thanks” to me for spearheading the social networking piece for our recruiting team. It truly made me feel appreciated and valued… which comes as no surprise to those who know Lori as she truly is one of the best directors I have ever worked with.
Here’s the link to the Ad Age article and her interview with them on why it’s important to use social networking as a recruiter. I hope you enjoy it!
I was doing my weekend ritual of getting caught up on my podcasts and thankfully I found a fantastic new “web 2.0″ site that was discussed on Command-N. This is the “video twitter” of social networking and it’s called 12 Seconds.
Literally to its name, you only have 12 seconds to record a quick video that will then post on your profile/timeline. 12Seconds.tv is currently in private beta, so the first few people who leave a comment will get an invite code from me! Anyone can register, but if I invite you, you may get your code faster.
As with Twitter and its 120 maximum character limit, 12 Seconds does the same by limiting one’s video message to only 12 seconds. So, everyone needs to get really creative because you technically only have 12 seconds to make yourself famous!
Check it out - I think this is a phenomenal and fun website. You can email video messages to your friends and family as well as allow 12Seconds.tv to post a “I just did a 12 Seconds video” message on Twitter. Done and done.
In this moxtastic episode, I go over why CNN is in hot water with Twitter, why Phelps should be butterfly kissing the geeks and why Lush is the moxiest store in the world for guys and gals!
In this episode, a BIG announcement and partnership with fellow Twitter friend @tonychall. I also discuss some exciting news from Nokia and what they’re going to send me soon. Also, what do fish and feet have in common? You’ll find out very soon! Last but not least, I’m heading to Florida tomorrow and would love YOUR thoughts/comments/tips for anything related to Destin, FL! What else should I talk about on the show? Let me know… come on MOXIES, leave a comment or five!
As you know, I’m a big fan of Jott (click here to view my review on what Jott does). Jott just released a new feature that really has my interest so I thought I’d share it with all of you. Jott Feeds lets you listen to your favorite news and RSS Feeds all from your phone! You can set Jott up so that when you call you can get all of your latest Twitter updates. You can also have Jott tell you the latest news on CNN, TechCrunch or any other website/blog you want! You literally set up Jott’s Feeds and with a press of a phone button, Jott will speak what you used to only be able to read!
I find this new feature incredible! How many times am I in my car and wondering what my friends’ latest updates on Twitter are? Or what Lifehacker has just posted? This is really an incredible feature and I’m glad Jott has added it.
So whatcha waiting for? Get your free account with Jott today and make sure you set up a Jott Feed for my blog (or click here and you’ll go directly to Jott!)
For those of you who are new to RSS and feeds, all you need to do is click on the orange icon (RSS) in the top right sidebar of my blog and you’ll get the link to my RSS feed. Simply copy that into your Jott Feed and you’ll always be caught up with Jeff McCord’s Blog! I’m literally just a phone call away!
One of my goals is creating this blog is to discuss the moxiest, newest technology out there. Although Jott has been around for a little while, the services that Jott has recently added now have my attention. Once you’ve created a free account with Jott, all you have to do is call a toll-free number and speak whatever it is you wish to say clearly. You then have the option for Jott to transcribe what you say and send it to any of your contacts on email or now even Twitter.
They also just added cross functionality with Wordpress, the software I use for my blog. I can literally call the Jott toll-free number next time there’s breaking news and within seconds, Jott will transcribe my voicemail into a new blog post for you to read. Moxie indeed!
Here’s an example of a call I just made to Jott:
“Hey guys I am using jott to write my new blog posts and I just wanted to say hello, this is very moxie.” Listen to Jeff’s Voicemail Here
