3D Channels – Coming Soon To A House Near You?

3DTV 3D Channels Coming Soon To A House Near You?

We’ve talked a lot about 2010’s technology and gadgets and what to expect this year on the Moxie Mo Show. One topic that is all the buzz is 3D – not the typical red/blue glasses you wear in a big movie theater, but 3D HDTVs and networks that will soon carry 3D television.

I think we can all agree that 2010 is surprising that 3D technology could actually be in people’s homes… quite frankly, I thought it’d take another 10 years to get the experience something worthwhile AND something inexpensive. But according to CES 2010, it looks like it may be coming sooner than you thought.

The Discovery Channel, one of my most favorite networks (Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Discovery Health, etc) has teamed with Sony and Imax to bring 3D technology and programming to people’s homes in 2011. “So far, the 3D network doesn’t have a name. But when it launches, the companies said it will feature “content from genres that are most appealing in 3D, including natural history, space, exploration, adventure, engineering, science and technology, motion pictures and children’s programming from Discovery, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Imax, and other third-party providers,” quotes Cnet.com.

But more than science, sports fan will love this: ESPN, according to a USA Today report, is creating an ESPN 3D Channel that will deliver more than 85 live sporting events in 3D!

So what does one need to prepare for this new and awesome technology? Obviously, your new HDTV you got for Christmas will not suffice – but the newest and yet-to-come HDTVs will be 3D-ready and yes, glasses will be required. The question remains though, do you think 3D will be a hit (if done right) even with having to wear 3D glasses or will it just be another bust, like the 80s 3D flicks?

I have a confession. I have an addiction. It’s called Big Brother 10. I love that my coworkers (shout out to Misti and Amberly) talk about it with a passion like I do. What is it about a stupid reality show that can get you so excited and so enthralled?

If you don’t watch it, you won’t care about this posting. But this is my blog, no? :)

Things We Do For Love

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Things We Do For LoveI’ve written a few posts on here about relationships, love and commitment… and I’m about to write one more. James and I have been watching this season’s Bacherlorette on ABC and I must admit, shamefully, that I was on the edge of my seat every episode. I usually don’t watch The Bachelor nor do I watch many of The Bacherlorettes, but there was something different about this lady. She had me at the first “will you accept this rose?”

Tonight was the finale of the show and I’ve never been more upset in my life. She chose the wrong guy, in my expert TV opinion. The guy who I was totally gunning for (Jason) just got his heart broke, literally, on national TV. I know, some of you on here are probably thinking “this is a reality show… there’s no such thing as falling in love on a TV show.” Well, if you watched this season, I think you’d have to agree that people can and do crazy things for love. So that got me thinking, primarily because I felt so sad and heartbroken for Jason, why do we do the things we do for love?

Whether it’s staying in a relationship that isn’t progressing because you’re too in love with the other person or it’s risking your image, your heart and your self-worth on a national TV show, we humans do strange AND HARD things for love. I’ve yet to see (in real life or on TV) people do the things they do for any other thing on this Earth (except I will admit people do some CRAZY things for money). Sure, we all know someone who will eat a raw oyster or a spoiled egg for a hundred bucks… but can you honestly say these people would risk rejection or heart break for money? I don’t think many would. Yet, people do it every day for love!

Love is something that isn’t tangible, in my opinion. I’m learning so much about love in these last two years, due to the relationship I’m in, than I ever thought possible. And those who know me, know that these lessons haven’t been the most enjoyable. However, they are lessons that I’ve found to be truly valuable.

So, my awesome readers, what are your thoughts? Do you think people do crazy things for love? If so, what? Give me a personal example! :)

Cast of Flipping Out: Jeff McCord\'s Blog

As most of you know, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to write weekly for Culture Feast, a pop-culture blog.  That being said, one of my most recent posts on Culture Feast was about one of my most favorite TV shows for the summer, Flipping Out.

If you’re anything like me and begin having TV withdrawals because your favorite TV shows are on summer hiatus, then you HAVE to check out Flipping Out.

Here’s why… click here.
