Update on SJK - January 15th, 2008

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

So by now, all of us Apple cult members have thoroughly and thoroughly researched into every known website that vlogs or blogs about Steve Jobs’ awesome key note that was held in San Francisco earlier today. Feel free to check out my three favorite sites for up to the second updates… (Engadget, Gizmodo, TUAW) All three of these sites are major players and I watched all three of them today and literally was hearing the things Steve was announcing to those that were actually in the building as “live blogging time”. So yes, I was quick to put up the first information of Job’s announcement regarding the Macbook Air thanks to the awesome job these sites did in their liveblogging.

Here’s my McCord’s Moxie Simplification of the big keynote address:

(1) Steve seemed confident through out his entire speech which seemed to keep the booooos at bay, if there were any. The first item he mentioned, right off the bat, was the Time Capsule (an airport extreme base station PLUS a hard drive all in one). So those of us who have Macbooks and are getting tired of having to plug in our external hard drive to back up will be quite pleased.

(2) iTunes, iTunes, iTunes - I am SO thrilled with the opportunity of now being able to rent movies via iTunes. And the best part? You can rent a movie on your computer… then if you decide to watch it on your TV, you just push a button (Transfer) and send it to your iPhone. Then connect your iPhone to your TV and voila, you’re good to go. I tested this new service last night with Ratatouille and it worked flawlessly. Done and done.

(3) iPhone 1.1.3 - yes, I decided to stop jailbreaking my iPhone so I restored it and updated to 1.1.3. It’s great. Enough of this topic though…

(4) The thinnest laptop in the world! - MacBook Air - I won’t write much about this because I already did in an earlier post…. but I will leave you with Apple’s new commercial.

The New Macbook Air: Unbelievable…

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Apple did it again.  During Steve Jobs’ keynote speech this morning, he announced the thinnest laptop in the world… the Macbook Air.  According to Gizmodo, the specs are:

Here’s the CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Inside, 1.6 GHz standard, with a 1.8GHz upgrade available. Apple asked Intel to shrink their Core 2 Duo processors down to a package 60% smaller in order to fit it inside the MacBook Air.

Here’s what’s inside. 1.8-inch hard drives, like in the iPods. There’s also an optional 64GB solid state disk. What else is in there? A complete Mac board, which is a little wider than the length of a pencil.

You can turn on different types of gestures in the settings, like moving around a window with your finger, panning around a photo with two fingers, rotate a photo by twisting a finger, swipe between photos with three figners, and zoom in and out with pinching.

The Macbook Air… genius!

Something Is In the Air…

apple150 Something Is In the Air...

For those of you who have noticed I haven’t blogged much lately is because of two reasons.

(1) My Macbook which I adore, love, like, want to make out with, etc. hahaha - seriously, I love it. I’ve been on it 24/7 and since I’m a switcher as I’ve discussed earlier, I am spending the majority of my time on here downloading new programs, buying games, customizing everything to customize for my tastes etc. Oh yeah, I also work 45 to 60 hours per week so it’s been a busy week….

(2) I have been patiently waiting for Steve Jobs and Apple’s MacWorld to start (1 day and counting) in San Francisco. Since I am still a Mac newbie, I’ve never been to Macworld nor have I ever heard Steve Jobs speak. But you can find me per my twitter (jeffmccord) or pownce (jeffmccord) and you will see where I plan to watch Steve’s keynote LIVE.

I will also not bore you by giving you the rumors and predictions of what products will come out, what ones will be re-released and updated, and the other “hoopla” that generally goes on there from what I recall. Will it be a smaller Macbook in silver or black with more RAM and more HD space and a combo drive? Will it be that the iPhone will be heading to 3g soon…. sometime in late summer? Could it also be that Steve will announce that we can now rent movies for 24 hours on iTunes? He’ll also show for those of YOU who haven’t jailbreaked your iPhone how to do the same options we all have been doing for months.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Here comes MacWorld…
