It’s Official: Colin Powell Endorses Obama
Sunday, October 19th, 2008In what’s been called the most major Republican crossing of party lines, Colin Powell has officially endorsed Barack Obama on Meet the Press this morning.
“I must say, he seemed a little unsure about how to approach the problem,” Powell said of McCain.
“He didn’t have a complete grasp of the economic problems we have.”
According to the Washington Post, “Powell also expressed concerns about McCain’s selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. ‘I don’t believe she’s ready to be President of the United States, which is the job of vice president,’ Powell said, adding that it raised ‘some questions in my mind’ about McCain’s judgment.”
Wow. I recall some of my conservative family members, coworkers and even friends mentioning to me that they would vote for Colin Powell if he ever ran for President. This makes me wonder what they feel now that he’s endorsing a Democratic nominee?
As the Washington Post said best, this endorsement gives Obama the credibility and TRUST that a lot of conservatives have been trying to take away from him.
Please make sure you vote on November 4th!

Fight the Smears: Obama’s New Online Tactic
Tuesday, June 17th, 2008This is why President-to-be Barack Obama will win this year’s Presidency, in my humble opinion. No other candidate or former President has reached the millions of us who live our lives online in the internet world like Barack Obama has. Whether it’s because he was the first to create a Facebook page (which influenced millions of college kids to start voting for the first time in their lives) or his own Twitter Profile so that millions of us could see where he was and what he was doing all along the contentious campaign trail, Barack Obama has the internet down.
If you recall, I wrote a post earlier on my blog discussing how frustrated I was when my family (names will be withheld) would email me absolute lies and smears about Obama and then go on to BELIEVE what the email would say! They had no way of checking their facts.
So, I’m VERY excited to announce to you, my educated readers… Obama’s campaign just announced a new tactic in the online wars. If you haven’t received an email, a YouTube video or a picture that shows Obama in a smear campaign, then you must be living under a rock. Whether it’s an email accusing Obama of being an extreme, radical Muslim to a video claiming that Michelle Obama said “whitey” on tape, one thing’s for sure: these are all lies and smears. And instead of just ignoring these damaging and politically-motivated lies, Senator Obama has decided to be the first President-nominee to proactively crush these smears online.
What better way to send a message “on the record” to every American out there on what is true and what is not than having Obama say it himself? Well, my friends, the time has come. Obama’s campaign just recently announced their new website Fight the Smears. Obama and his crew decided to use this avenue for people to get the facts about Obama and then make their decision BASED ON FACTS.
So the next time I receive an email claiming that a minister heard from another bishop who heard from the Pope himself that Obama hates white people, I will make sure I send Fight the Smears link to every one of those people. TRUTH ALWAYS WINS. TRUTH ALWAYS WINS.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you agree with most of the bloggers who say this was a very smart move for the Obama campaign? Do you think it will help or hurt? Regardless if you’re pro or against Obama, do you agree that Obama being the first “online candidate” to make the Presidential nomination will change the way candidates do politics in the future? When the Right Are Wrong
Wednesday, May 14th, 2008If you’re anything like me, you take a lot of the emails that are forwarded to your inbox with a grain of salt. Most email aficionados know to always verify “factual emails” with Snopes or any other Urban Legend Email website. However, one group of emails that has been going around to millions of people has literally persuaded America into thinking something that is absolutely false.
Did you know Barack Obama has admitted that he is NOT a Muslim? Did you know that Obama also believes in Christ as his Lord and Savior? And did you also know that Obama has nothing against putting his hand over the Bible? Well, if you don’t believe those last few statements, then you’re probably a believer in an email that went around, started by a Jason “Molotov” Mitchell. Wired Magazine just wrote an article recently on how they figured out who was behind the smear campaign of Obama being a Muslim and hating the Bible. They also uncovered some disturbing emails and websites that include false facts about Senator Obama and there was even encouragement to “forward these emails to as many people as possible.” Little does it surprise me, it came from the right side of the political spectrum.
What makes this a bit scarier to me, though, is how many people STILL believe that Obama is a Muslim because of some false email or video that has circulated around the globe. Yet, even when he’s asked, people will still refuse what he says to be his truth. When did America become this type of non-believing society? Granted, I must give everyone the benefit of the doubt because there are a lot of emails and photoshopped pictures out on the web. And yes, people aren’t always truthful, especially in politics. But how can people believe in a smear campaign and at the same time they won’t believe the words out of the accused’s mouth? As a Christian, what upsets me even more is the majority of these attacks seem to be coming from churches all across the country. It really saddens me. And yes, let me make sure I say that not ALL churches or Christians believe this filth. Thank Jesus for that!
So what are your thoughts? Do you generally do your civil duty and check every email that’s forwarded to you on its integrity? Do you mindlessly forward emails to “countless others” without thinking it may make a difference in the way people perceive a certain subject? I know I’ve been guilty of it. But I realize the power of the web and I realize the power of social media, so I’ve made a pledge to myself to really be a fact checker before spewing out mindless drama or untrue “facts.”
* let it also be known, this is not my way of publicly endorsing Obama for President. I am a Democrat, yes, but my mind has not been made up.Yes We Can!
Saturday, February 9th, 2008It doesn’t take a scientist to see that I’m a blue-blooded Democrat. However, this year’s nominee party has me by surprise. Why? Simple. I can’t make a decision on who I like most… Obama or Hillary (regardless who wins, there’s no possible way we can be worse off than what we have in the current administration).
With that said, this isn’t my announcement on whom I’m voting for, but this does say a lot. This is one of the coolest videos I’ve seen as of yet. If this video doesn’t move you, it’s safe to say you’re not American…
