Moxie Review: Evernote
Monday, May 19th, 2008According to their site, Evernote is a web service that helps users manage all the digital information most relevant to them. The Service can be accessed through free, user-friendly Evernote software running on a personal computer or mobile device, or any Web browser.
Evernote, in private beta, tries to solve the problem of too much information and not enough places to store the information. Whether it’s a receipt you need to keep, a review of a restaurant you want stored or a personal photo that you’d like to view over again, Evernote has the answer. Simply take a digital picture of whatever it is you need captured, email it to their secure server, and you’ll be able to access it any time you want. Evernote works in all web browsers and they also have a free desktop client that syncs with their servers.
According to their site, here’s why you use Evernote and remember everything:
(1) Type notes, to-dos, brainstorms, and reminder
(2) Snap photos of anything from whiteboards to wine labels then email or sync them
(3) Clip web pages and have them stored and accessible in their entirety, even offline
(4) Write handwritten notes using digital ink or take snapshots of regular ink notes
(5) Record audio clips and memos to listen to later
(6) Email or MMS notes from your cell phone to your personalized Evernote address*
And then find it all whenever you want on your computer, mobile phone, and the web.
One of the reasons I find this service so cool is that Evernote’s servers can recognize text and handwriting in an image that you upload. So you can then search for that image by whatever text is in the photo! Pretty neat, huh
