Unboxing iPhone 3G

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

So, I’m 6 months late, but I finally got my new 3G iPhone (Christmas present) and I’m now official. Right off the bat, it is definitely faster which is an added bonus (and worth the $199 in my opinion) and the GPS is phenomenal. I love the blue little dot that literally follows you everywhere you go. If you speed up on a highway, the blue dot (on google maps) literally speeds up as well. Slow down? The blue dot slows down. It’s amazing.

Nonetheless, here you go. I can’t believe today is the last day of 2008. Thank God!

Is MobileMe Fixed?

Monday, December 15th, 2008

overview_hero200807021-300x107 Is MobileMe Fixed?

It’s been several months now that Apple’s cloud-syncing MobileMe has been created yet the issues seemed to get worse and worse as the days rolled by. For those of you who use MobileMe (like me), you know that your contacts would sync from your iPhone to your Mac, but your Mac wouldn’t sync properly (specifically the contacts in your Address Book) to your iPhone or other computer or vice versa. Well now, thanks to Apple’s latest update of 10.5.6, MobileMe’s performance should be much better.

According to Computer World, “as part of the Mac OS X 10.5.6 upgrade released today, Apple included fixes to MobileMe, the company’s online synchronization, storage and Web application service. ‘Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Mac automatically sync within a minute of the change being made on the computer, another device, or the web at me.com,’ Apple said in the update description it posted online Monday morning.”

I’ve yet to update to 10.5.6 since I’m at work but I’m looking forward to MobileMe being fixed. As many have said in the past, this could be Apple’s strength if it would get MobileMe once and for all fixed.

For those Mac users who’ve already updated, do you notice everything syncing properly with MobileMe? Leave a comment or msg me on twitter if you know!

Apple and Google Publicly Reject Prop 8 (Ban on Gay Marriage)

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I’ve always had a huge love for all things Apple and all great things Google and now I must admit, I love them even more. Finally we have two large companies who are doing GOOD for their employees and doing GOOD for equality all over the state of California (and quite frankly, this says a huge message for all of America).

If you’re not familar with Proposition 8, here’s a quick recap:

Conservatives in California have put a measure on the ballot to ban gay marriage and therefore make it illegal. It has been a very heated debate in California and all over the country as most people (pro and against gay marriage) have been watching this one closely.

According to AppleInsider.com, Apple recently donated $100,000 to vote NO on Prop 8 therefore throwing their support to their gay employees whose freedoms would be taken away if this measure gets passed.

Google also has publicly thrown support to voting NO on Prop 8 and has made a statement that says “it is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8. While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 — we should not eliminate anyone’s fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love.”

Thank you Google and Apple for supporting your employees and your customers for a simple right that allows each and every one of us to celebrate a commitment made between to people who are in love.

End of issue.

iPhone’s Copy & Paste In Flames Already?

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

As many of you know, Cali Lewis from Geekbrief broke a story that someone had figured out how to incorporate copy and paste for the iPhone between applications. There was a huge “to do” about this for obvious reasons and I even covered it in the Moxie Mo Show Episode #17.

As of last night, this awesome news make already been up in flames according to Gizmodo. Read Gizmodo’s article for more information… for a quick read, it’s due to Apple’s iPhone 2.1 firmware that will be pushed out soon. It literally seals the “loophole” that allowed this guy to create copy and paste.

This really sucks. What are your thoughts?
