McCord’s Moxie Movie Review
I decided to use my new Apple TV and rent 3 HD movies today and treat myself to a cinema-filled weekend. I rented Star Dust, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and Michael Clayton. As of press time, I’ve watched two of the three.
Michael Clayton – Michael Clayton – this movie started out a bit slow, but what I liked about it was George Clooney’s character… unusual for George. Instead of the character being the hottest guy, Mr. Moxie, full of money and having all the ladies, you begin to immediately feel bad for Mr. Clayton. His life isn’t the best nor is it anywhere from envious. The middle of this movie is where it starts getting good, thanks to Tom Clancy (I think that’s his name, could be wrong). The ending was perfect. I find myself jumping off my West Elm couch going “GET ‘EM GEORGE!” Anyone who likes seeing Big Bad Corporation getting taken down for the people will like this movie… I give it 4 moxies.
Now on to the 2nd movie….
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford – while the movie was crazy long, I really liked it. The story/legend of Jesse James is amazing in itself (any of you who’ve been raised in the central US know the story of Jesse James) and I must say Brad Pitt is quite convincing as the always plagued, never trusting, mean as hell Jesse James. But the stealer of the movie?? Mr. Casey Affleck. He absolutely deserves THE Oscar for this role and I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated. All in all, I give it 3.5 moxies.
As as I wrote earlier, I’ve not yet reviewed Star Dust so I will give you a good update tomorrow after I watch it.I’d love to hear what the rest of you think if you’ve seen these movies! I hope you all have a great weekend!
